BAYAN USA—an alliance of over 30 anti-imperialist Filipino youth, women, and migrant organizations across the country—remain unflinching in our solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle against Israeli occupation, and for justice, return, and liberation. We amplify the ongoing resistance in Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, and in all of occupied Palestine against the latest series of forced evictions in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan, and the military violence that has ensued at Al-Aqsa Mosque and across the country. There is no question that the actions of the Israeli state are tantamount to ethnic cleansing and genocide.
On the eve of the 73rd anniversary of the Nakba—which marked the forcible exile and violent theft of the homes and land of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948—we are reminded that the Israeli state’s fascist brutality meted out on Palestinians is anything but new. Yet as families continue to organize against dispossession, as people young and old face the Zionists head on, as the diaspora organizes and mobilizes people in the tens of thousands, we are reminded that the courageous resistance of the Palestinian people has also burned brightly for more than seven decades, and will continue to light the way until total victory.
As we continue our struggle against the fascism of the U.S.-backed Duterte regime in the Philippines, we pledge to struggle alongside our Palestinian siblings in the fight against U.S.-backed Zionist occupation in Palestine. The certain victory of the Palestinian people is also a victory for Filipinos around the world.
We call on all Filipinos to join us in mobilizing across the country this Saturday and Sunday for Nakba Day, and in organizing in solidarity for Palestinian liberation in the days, months, and years to come. Let us sharpen our weapon of international solidarity, strike down the enemies that stand in our way, and offer all we can on the march toward a free Palestine.
